Positive Change In May I met with Bill Schermerhorn, the President of beachBub USA. Bill reached out to me after I bought a beachBub. He recognized my name because both he and I were interviewed on WTVR CBS6 in 2016 after a woman in Virginia Beach died because the shaft of a windblown beach umbrella penetrated her chest. My injury happened the year before in 2015. Bill is passionate about preventing these injuries because of a personal experience of his own (visit www.beachBub.com to learn about his 06/23/2017

A Couple of Responses on Facebook I'm not the only one who has been injured. Below are some comments from Facebook: Deborah: "I got hit with a run away umbrella a number of years ago while asleep in my beach chair.....on the side of my face. I was so angry that it would happen. I constantly look where umbrella are when I am at the beach. I realize how truly lucky I was that day." Amy: "Long ago, my aunt's mother was killed by a wind blown beach umbrella. Though I never knew her, I still react every time I see an umbrella 05/31/2017

Latest Activities I'm sorry I haven't been posting more regularly to this BLOG. Since I started the outreach with BeachUmbellaSafety.org I've been very busy: Beach Umbrella Safety has been incorporated as a non-profit in Virginia. I built this website myself using some knowledge gained over years in information systems. I've put the warning out on Facebook and it has gotten hundreds of shares (we need millions). I've done some research on umbrella design and safety products. Have a look at the picture on this 05/31/2017
